In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

I received the sad news about the demise of my old friend- Mr. Hajj Ali Aqa Baqirzadeh- who was a knowledgeable poet and who was known by the pen-name “Baqaa”. He was an eloquent poet, a thoughtful individual and a sincere friend with a flowing talent, with poems that contained moral and social themes, with a sweet disposition and with generous behavior that was imbued with politeness and sincerity. Part of his poetry is among the outstanding poetry of the contemporary era which will establish his name in the annals of poetry of the country.

I express my condolences to his esteemed children and family and I ask God to bestow His mercy and forgiveness on him.

Sayyid Ali Khamenei

In Shahrivar of 1392, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic revolution issued a message to a commemoration congress for Ali Baqirzadeh, saying, “This old and kind friend is one of the few survivors of a group of skilled poets who had turned Mashhad into the center of outstanding and prominent poetry at a specific period of time. These poets had made poetry lovers and poetry experts praise their literary status. The qitaa’s of “Baqa” were part of the colorful and velvety poetry of those days and they had a special, eye-catching and impressive reflection among an abundance of outstanding ghazals and qasidas in Mashhad.”
