Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met this Saturday with Nicolas Maduro, the President of Venezuela. Eshaq Jahangiri, First Vice President of Iran, was also present at the meeting.
Pointing to the defeat of American plots and policies in West Asia, His Eminence stated that the issue of the reduction in the price of oil is an instrument for exerting pressure on countries which are independent from America, reiterating: “Reasonable and insightful resistance and steadfastness against pressures will undoubtedly be followed by victory.”
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the weapon of oil for imposing the current problems on independent countries and stressed: “In the past, when some Islamic countries decided to confront the Zionist regime by refusing to sell their oil, westerners created uproar with the excuse that Islamic countries are making political use of oil. However today, in complete harmony with American policies, the same countries are using oil as a weapon in cooperation with some members of OPEC and some countries in our region which are harmed by these policies themselves.”
Ayatollah Khamenei added: “We can overcome these plots and hostilities by adopting reasonable policies and by increasing our cooperation.”
His Eminence stated that America has been defeated in implementing its policies in West Asia despite spending a lot of money from its own pocket and from the pocket of some regional countries. He mentioned: “Some people think that America is invincible. This is while this notion is a grave mistake. The constant mistakes that the Americans have made in the past 15 years have seriously paralyzed them in the region and they have become desperate.”
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution reiterated that Venezuela’s influence on anti-arrogance movements in Latin America shows the high capacity of this country.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that Venezuela should grasp the opportunity to be the head of the Non-Aligned Movement, adding: “Westerners are not willing to witness an increase in the activities of the Non-Aligned Movement, but independent countries should move in a direction opposite to their requests. If this happens, the future will undoubtedly become better than the past.”
His Eminence mentioned that the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran is seriously looking for increasing cooperation with Venezuela. He also referred to the important role of the officials and ministers of the two countries in pursuing and implementing agreements in an exact and thorough manner.
Expressing his joy at travelling to Iran for the second time and meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Nicolas Maduro said: “Hugo Chavez had understood Iran and its position in a perfect manner and he always spoke of Iran as a powerful country.”
The President of Venezuela praised the powerful resistance of the Iranian nation against American enmities and added: “The people of Iran live in complete peace and security while many regional countries and countries neighboring Iran are unfortunately at war. These countries have conflicts with one another and they have certain weaknesses.”
Referring to the substantial reduction in the price of oil in the past two years, Maduro said: “American imperialism has benefitted from many interferences and enmities against Venezuela, but our people resisted this economic war. In the present time, we are gradually moving out of this economic crisis.”
Pointing to the U.S. presidential elections, he said: “No matter which of the two main candidates wins the U.S. elections, a decadent administration will be formed in America. This will be very dangerous for the future of the world.”
The President of Venezuela described his meetings with the officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran as successful and added: “We should do our best to make our agreements produce results.”
