Evo Morales meets with Ayatollah Khamenei

Iran will support anyone who resists bullying and imperialism: Leader

Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Tuesday afternoon with Evo Morales, the President of Bolivia. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence praised the appealing and heroic resistance of Bolivia and some other Latin American countries against the bullying of the arrogant front and stated that the dangerous policy of America in the world and in South America is to change the identity of youth, further reiterating: “We should resist this imperialist policy by strengthening our willpower and increasing our communication and cooperation.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution described Bolivia’s resistance against the greed of arrogant America as an important privilege which is even more significant than the nationalization of oil industry for Bolivia and for Mr. Morales, further saying: “Iran was the first country that completely liberated itself from American domination with the popular and independent movement of Imam Khomeini (God’s mercy be upon him) and that stood up against the hostile behavior of the two empires in the east and in the west and all kinds of military, security and economic pressures exerted by them.”

Ayatollah Khamenei added: “On this basis, the Islamic Republic of Iran will support anyone – no matter where in the world they are – who resists bullying and imperialism.”

Pointing to Bolivia’s numerous resources and talents, His Eminence said: “These capacities, the relations between the two countries and numerous areas for our cooperation can be put at the service of the interests of nations and resistance against bullies.”

He stressed that the economic achievements of Bolivia with the purpose of ensuring its political and economic independence are necessary and valuable. He added: “Software achievements should receive attention as well as these hardware achievements.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution mentioned that America’s policy in the world and in Latin America is to change the identity of domestic people and youth by utilizing new means of communication. He stated: “If the Americans succeed in this policy of theirs and if they can make youth think in an American way, then they will manage to dominate countries without needing to resort to military coups and other harsh measures.”

Ayatollah Khamenei believes that strengthening domestic identity and introducing values to youth is the way to confront this American policy: “By relying on Allah the Exalted and by strengthening our willpower, we can achieve victory in this battle.”

Expressing his happiness at meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Evo Morales said: “We consider you as the father of and the mentor for all independent revolutions - particularly Latin American revolutions - and we have learned many lessons from your invaluable, inspiring and encouraging words.”

The President of Bolivia described American interferences as problematic, saying: “At the beginning of my term, I said in response to the Americans’ warning about establishing relations with Iran that we are an independent country and that we do not ask for anyone’s permission in order to establish relations with others.”

He stressed that the people of Bolivia have not been and will not be blackmailed by the Americans, adding: “By nationalizing the oil industry, we established our independence and autonomy and we put an end to years of western transgression.”

Morales reiterated that during the time of Bolivia’s independence, his country made progress several times more than the time when Bolivia was dependent on the west. He stressed the necessity of achieving economic independence in the shade of political independence, adding: “Today, Bolivia’s gross national product has reached more than 36 billion dollars which is four times more than the dependence era.”

The President of Bolivia referred to Iran’s numerous experiences and capabilities in different scientific and technological areas, saying: “Iran and Bolivia are two allies because of their history, culture and peoples and I hope that our bilateral relations in different areas will increase. Bolivia has always praised the Islamic Republic’s positions and we are confident that Iran will continue its path with complete stability.”

Evo Morales added: “Bolivia enjoys power, resistance and stability in the shade of developing relations and increasing cooperation with revolutionary and resistant countries like Iran.”
