Ayatollah Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, met Monday morning with Nicolas Maduro, the President of Venezuela. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence praised Venezuela’s inspiring resistance and movement against arrogant policies, stressing: “Today, arrogant policies have traumatized humanity like a great calamity and the only way for the progress and victory of independent countries is resistance and reliance on the masses of people in a war of willpower.”

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution pointed to America’s greedy policies in Latin America, saying: “America used to consider this region as its own backyard, but Venezuela’s unique movement managed to turn this region into an independent region, one that has a strong identity.”
Ayatollah Khamenei reiterated that by pressuring Venezuela, America is pursuing the goal of destroying the inspiring resistance of the government and people of that country, adding: “Today’s wars in the world are, in fact, wars of willpower. By showing resistance, strengthening your determination and benefitting from the many capacities of your country, you will be able to overcome the existing problems.”
His Eminence stressed the necessity of increasing cooperation with Venezuela, adding: “Iran considers Venezuela’s progress and success as its own progress and success.”
In this meeting which was also attended by Eshaq Jahangiri, the First Vice President, the President of Venezuela expressed his happiness at the renewed meeting with the Leader and described Iran as a country with a historic identity. He said: “Iran and Venezuela are true friends and enjoy firm and abiding relations
Pointing to the great respect and affinity that the late Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez had for Iran and for the Leader of the Revolution, President Maduro said: “I, too, have learned many lessons from our meetings and your words and explanations have had a big impact on me.”
Nicolas Maduro also stressed the necessity of showing resistance in defending national independence, stating: “By causing turmoil and creating chaos in the world and by humiliating the identity of countries, imperialism is after destroying the independence of nations.”
The President of Venezuela pointed to the preparedness of the government and people of Venezuela in confronting the American plots, saying: “As you mentioned, we shall defeat the enemies through the war of willpower and with reliance on our people.”
He highlighted the importance of the GECF Summit and stressed the necessity of recapturing the significance of OPEC, adding: “We should formulate new plans for increasing our bilateral cooperation and implementing our joint projects. We should preserve and improve our relations at the highest level as this was the case in the past.”
