Leader: Large Turnout, Slap in Face of Enemies

Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met this morning with thousands of ordinary citizens and families of Iranian Martyrs and former POWs. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence said that the enemies have been trying to discourage the people of Iran from taking part in the upcoming parliamentary elections, further adding: "In all parts of the world, exciting elections with a large voter turnout are a sign that the people of that country are vibrant and that their determination is firm. Therefore, in all countries widespread presence of the people in the elections is a sign of the vigilance of the people and their support for their government."

He referred to the low rate of voter turnout in the presidential elections of America over the past years and reiterated: "This rate of voter turnout is not at all comparable to the massive presence of the people in the presidential elections of the year 1388 and the 8th parliamentary elections. The massive propaganda of the media outlets affiliated with the camp of the arrogant powers has targeted this massive and enthusiastic presence of the Iranian people."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution added that he believes the Iranian nation will give the arrogant powers a powerful slap across the face on election day Friday.

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: "The hearts of the people are guided by Allah the Exalted. And when the hearts of the people, government officials and those who care about the country are with God, He will remove the obstacles and make them successful. By Allah's favor, God will bestow this success on the Iranian nation on Friday."

His Eminence stressed that presence in the elections is a truly powerful blow to the arrogant powers and added: "What is extremely important in the elections is the widespread presence of the people. This is because the more the rate of voter turnout, the more competent and courageous the Majlis will be and the more it will be supported. And such a Majlis will be able to make the voice of the people heard in the world."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the upcoming elections, which will be held on Friday, are more sensitive than the previous parliamentary elections. "The reason is that the camp of the arrogant powers has used up almost all its bullets against the Iranian nation and is running out of them. Therefore, the people should stand firm and show their determination and willpower to the enemies so that the camp of the arrogant powers realizes that it cannot stand in the way of our nation."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the leaders of the arrogant powers are openly announcing that it is necessary to impose sanctions in order to discourage the people of Iran. He added: "America, the west and Zionism are trying to prevent the people of Iran from continuing the movement that has caused a general awakening in the world of Islam and has turned into a role model. They are trying to tell other nations that the pioneering Iranian nation has lost its motivation and that this role model has failed."

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: "What is amazing is that after the passage of more than 30 years and in spite of the increased political, economic, propaganda and security pressures, the Iranian nation has become more dynamic, more lively and more steadfast than before."

His Eminence reiterated: "This year, the demonstrations marking the 22nd of Bahman and the massive popular movement in support of the Islamic Republic were a slap across the face of the arrogant powers because the enemies of the Iranian nation wish they were able to encourage certain groups to take the streets and shout slogans against the Islamic system."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to the anti-government demonstrations by the people of Europe and added: "The enemies have been trapped in what they had plotted for the Iranian nation and this is a victory for the Iranian nation."

Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: "In spite of all the pressures and the assassination of young Iranian scientists, the people of Iran will not let the plots of the arrogant powers achieve the intended results."
