Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met today with a number of high-ranking military commanders, including the commanders of the Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence referred to the recent remarks by the US President who indirectly threatened to make use of nuclear bombs against Iran and said that such remarks proved that the US government cannot be trusted. He further added that the countries of the world should not pass over the issue easily.
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the current situation of the world and the dominance of power, oppression, ignorance, and carnal desires in the world and reiterated that military power, maintaining vigilance, and taking prudent and courageous measures are of great importance in such circumstances.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that some powers engage in oppression and invasion under the guise of deceptive slogans and added: "Today those who are warmongers in the true sense of the word talk of peace. And these people who show no respect for human rights and humanity shout slogans in support of human rights."
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the heads of certain governments make use of the most evil methods, such as establishing terrorist organizations and sponsoring terrorism, in order to advance their policies. "Yet, they put on a peaceful and philanthropic façade and make statements that sound noble."
Ayatollah Khamenei said in a world that is based on deception, lies, oppression, and power, some powers lose their control due to arrogance and reliance on the flimsy foundations of their power. "An example of this is the remarks made by the US President who indirectly threatened to use nuclear weapons against the Iranian nation."
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to these remarks as very strange and said that the countries of the world should not pass over the issue easily. "The twenty first century is a century in which they claim to support human rights and oppose terrorism. Yet, the head of a country threatens to start a nuclear war."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that such remarks will be harmful to the US and reiterated that such remarks are indicative of the fact that the US government cannot be trusted.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "During the recent years, American officials made numerous efforts to show that the Islamic Republic cannot be trusted in regard to its nuclear issue. Yet, it has now been proven that those governments who possess nuclear bombs and blatantly threaten to make use of nuclear bombs against other countries are the ones that cannot be trusted."
Ayatollah Khamenei said that everyone should maintain their vigilance in such circumstances and reiterated that moral and spiritual preparedness as well as determination and resistance are more important than military preparedness when a nation is faced with difficult situations.
Ayatollah Khamenei further added that faith, resistance, determination, and not being deceived are the reasons behind the strength of a system.
He said that difficulties are not permanent and added: "After the passage of thirty years, the Iranian nation is now stronger than before in all areas and has proven that it is able to stand up to all kinds of enmity."
Elsewhere in his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the Armed Forces to adopt the necessary measures in order to improve the Islamic Republic's combative and defensive capabilities. He said: "The Armed Forces should always maintain their vigilance and preparedness in order to counter different threats."
At the end of the meeting, the participants in the meeting said their prayers led by the Leader.
