Leader Rejects Nuclear Allegations

On the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, Ayatollah Khamenei the Leader of the Islamic Revolution met today with government officials, ambassadors of Islamic countries, and a group of people from different social backgrounds. Speaking at the meeting, His Eminence said that Islamic principles do not allow production of nuclear weapons and that Iran will always adhere to these principles.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that Islamic Eids are the best opportunity for evaluating the capacities and abilities of the Islamic Ummah and determining its shortcomings and weak points.

He reiterated: "Today the most important need of the Islamic Ummah and Muslim governments is to return to the straight path of God and to use the numerous political and geographical advantages in order to resist against the enemies and achieve Islamic glory, power, and progress while preserving unity and solidarity."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Iranian nation is an example for other nations. He touched on the Pahlavi regime's support for the Zionist regime as well as the conditions of the Iranian nation before and after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, further adding: "Thanks to the victory of the Islamic Revolution and the establishment of Islamic rule, the Iranian nation is currently the pioneer of opposing the Zionist regime. Today the Iranian nation is proud of its resistance against the bullying of the most insolent arrogant power in the world."

His Eminence said that the Iranian nation's achievement relating to scientific progress and the Islamic Republic's achievement relating to political glory were the result of Islamic rule. "The Islamic Republic does not claim that it fully observes Islamic teachings, but even the limited practicing of Islamic teachings has brought about some blessings and positive outcomes for the Iranian nation. This experience is a practical model for the Islamic Ummah."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution referred to lack of unanimity between Islamic governments and their people and said that the enemies are taking advantage of this situation. He added: "If the Islamic Ummah were unified and used all its political and geographical potentialities, the people of Gaza and Palestine would not be living in those conditions today and the bullying powers would not be able to impose their plans on the Islamic governments and demand complete conformity."

Ayatollah Khamenei also stressed: "In such conditions, if a statement is made against the occupying Zionists, the enemies will inundate the world with accusations against the one making the statement using their propaganda machines. They will claim that some people are trying to annihilate a government which is a member of the United Nations."

His Eminence added: "The Zionist regime is a fake government that has destroyed a nation, and those who claim to support human rights have closed their eyes to this evident instance of oppression and crime."

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the false claims made by the foreign media about Iran's attempt to wipe out the Zionist regime through military action and stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran has put forward a logical and humane proposition to solve the issue of Palestine.

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that promoting fear of Islam and the Islamic Republic are two strategies used by the arrogant powers, particularly the US, to prevent unity in the world of Islam.

He said: "The former US administration made several attempts against the Muslim world and the Islamic Republic. And the current US administration also pursues the policy of promoting fear of Islam and Iran despite its so-called friendly messages and statements."

Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the claims made by the US about the danger posed by the Iranian missiles and said: "Such claims are an accusation which is within the framework of the policy aimed at promoting fear of Iran. But the Islamic Republic has never attacked a country during the past thirty years."

He said that Iran has always adopted a friendly policy towards its neighbors and Islamic countries and added that it will always adopt a logical stance towards countries which do not pose any threats for the Islamic Republic. "However, the Islamic Republic will never stay silent if the Iranian nation and government are attacked," he noted.

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the claims about Iran's attempts to produce nuclear weapons are a false and unjust accusation against the Islamic Republic and added: "According to Islamic principles, the Islamic Republic of Iran considers the production of nuclear weapons as forbidden and will hold on to this belief."

He added: "The US officials are aware of this fact, but level these accusations in order to promote fear of Iran."

The Leader of the Islamic Republic said that the US government should rectify its policy in this regard and stated: "The Iranian nation is vigilantly observing these hostile policies and will stand up to them."

Ayatollah Khamenei said that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not retreat in case its rights are violated.
