Zionist regime’s attack on Iranian embassy in Syria was an attack on Iranian soil and it must be punished

Imam Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, led this year’s Eid al-Fitr prayer in Tehran’s Imam Khomeini (ra) Musallah before a large gathering of people on April 10, 2024.

After performing the prayer, Imam Khamenei delivered the first of his two sermons, extending warm greetings and congratulations to the Islamic Ummah and the Iranian nation on the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Fitr. In his address, he emphasized the importance of preserving the spiritual blessings of the month of Ramadan. “Praise God, the youth in our country have a desire to be religious, and this presents as a great opportunity for the country,” he stated.

In the second sermon of the prayer, Imam Khamenei said the tragic events in Gaza have deeply saddened Muslim nations in the month of Ramadan. Referring to the ongoing crimes committed by the usurping Zionist regime during the month of Ramadan, he added that, “Since the evil regime is unable to defeat the resistance forces, they resort to killing children in the arms of their mothers and patients in hospitals instead, shamelessly massacring over 30,000 innocent men, women, children, the young and the old, in front of the entire world.”

“Of course, we and critics of Western civilization have repeatedly stated that the essence of this civilization is an antagonism and disdain towards spiritual and human virtues and values and the actions of governments supporting the fraudulent Zionist regime exposed this reality amid the events that took place in Gaza over the past six months,” he added.

Imam Khamenei also pointed towards the “loud” cries of Western claimants who champion human rights. Addressing them, he asked, “Are the 30,000 or so innocent and homeless martyrs of Gaza not human? Why then is there no voice heard from the Westerners?”

Referring to the attack of the evil Zionist regime on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized, "Attacking our consulate is like attacking our soil. This is what is common around the world. The malicious [Zionist] regime has made a wrong move in this case. It should be punished and it will be punished.”

Imam Khamenei stated that the Iranian nation is grieving the loss of the martyrs who were killed in the attack by the Zionist regime, as well as loss of the Martyrs of Security in Sistan and Baluchestan. The Leader concluded his second sermon by praying to God for the success of the Iranian nation in the major tests it faces.
