Biden and Zionism: Cut from the same cloth!

Biden and Zionism: Cut from the same cloth!

“You don’t have to be a Jew to be a Zionist. I’m a Zionist.” These words were uttered a month ago by Joe Biden, the 46th president of the United States. It is not an exaggeration to say that he shares the blame as much as Netanyahu for shedding the blood of more than 23,000 martyrs and the displacement of nearly 2 million people in Gaza for his administration’s all-out support for the horrific crimes of the Zionist regime in the besieged coastal territory. Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei also mentioned this in his speech a few days ago. He said: “The US president [Joe Biden] has clearly stated that he is a Zionist. He’s right. The same evil that exists in the Zionists exists in him too. He has the same evil goals that they do.” In fact, it can be said that Biden’s name is tied to Israel and its crimes more than any politician in US history, and one can never imagine him and Zionism apart from each other. A detailed examination of Biden’s political life and his set of actions before and after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood and October 7 also attests to this fact.

1. Since 1990, when he was a senator, Biden has taken more than $4,346,000 from the famous Zionist lobby known as AIPAC.

2. Biden has always been one of the main mediators between the US government and the Zionist regime. Dennis Ross, a Middle East adviser during Obama’s first term, said in one of his interviews: “Whenever things were getting out of hand with Israel, Biden was the bridge. … His commitment to Israel was that strong.” According to Ross, when Obama wanted to criticize Netanyahu for expanding Israeli settlements in 2010, Biden prevented him from doing so.

3. In 1992, then-President George H. W. Bush demanded that Israel stop building settlements in the occupied territories, which are in violation of international law, if it wanted to receive billions of dollars in loan guarantees from the United States in support of taking in Soviet Jews. At that time, Biden was the only US representative who opposed Bush and spoke against him at an AIPAC meeting.

4. In 1995, when Biden was a senator from the state of Delaware and long before Donald Trump came to power, he was one of the major supporters of the idea of moving the American embassy to al-Quds, or as the Westerners call it, “Jerusalem.” At that time, Biden voted for a bill according to which the United States recognized this city as the capital of the Zionist regime.

5. Biden traveled to Israel in the first days of the Gaza war and at the peak of security risks to show his overt support for the Zionist regime. In fact, Biden is the first president in American history to visit Israel during war time.

6. At the peak of the economic crisis and inflation in the United States, after October 7, Biden authorized the sending of hefty financial aid to Israel and asked Congress to approve aid packages for Israel. In the first days of the Gaza war, he sent a $14.5 billion aid package to Congress for approval. Also, in the past month, he has authorized the sending of two financial and military aid packages of $147 million and $105 million to Israel.

7. While Jews make up only 1% of the American population, 50% of Biden’s cabinet are Jewish supporters of Zionism; people like Antony Blinken (Secretary of State), Janet Yellen (Treasury Secretary), Merrick Garland (US Attorney General), etc.

8. Supporting the Zionist regime is such a vital issue for Biden that he has been willing to take the risk of becoming a one-term president and losing popularity in the eyes of the American population. According to the latest polls, 70 percent of voters under 35 disapprove of Biden’s handling of the Gaza war. Also, support for Biden among Arab Americans has dropped to 17%, showing a 42% decrease compared to 2020. This decrease in popularity can ensure Biden’s defeat in the upcoming presidential elections in important states such as Michigan.

Finally, as mentioned, Joe Biden and Zionism are two inseparable parts. To the extent that Biden and many officials of his administration owe their political rise to the lobbies of this regime by serving Zionism well, the Zionist regime also owes its illegitimate existence to Biden and the US government. With the passing of several decades of full-fledged US support for Israel, it is evident to everyone that the Zionist regime, as the main proxy force of the US in the region, has advanced many of the hegemonic policies of the US, such as the Greater Middle East. In addition, the genocide and military invasion of Gaza these days by the Zionists is also one of the main strategies of the US to confront the Axis of Resistance, which is being pursued by Israel’s role-playing. And that is why Biden said 4 decades ago: “Were there not an Israel, the United States of America would have to invent an Israel to protect her interests in the region.”
