Leader Participates in Tehran Green Space Development Plan

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei took part in the Tehran green space development plan on Friday by planting two saplings in northeast of the city.

He planted the saplings on the first day of the Natural Resources Week in Iran during a ceremony celebrating implementation of the 6,000h of green space plan around Tehran.

Also present in the ceremony were the members of the Tehran City Council, Tehran mayor, a number of managers from Tehran Municipality, the chairwoman of the Department of Environment and Basij commander.

During the ceremony, Ayatollah Khamenei underscored the importance of planting trees as prescribed by religious teachings and said, "Due to the fact that there is a lot of construction of new buildings and destruction of green spaces, developing green areas is now a high priority."

The Leader reminded all authorities of their responsibility in serving people, saying, "People are eager to witness sincere services by officials."

In the ceremony, the Tehran Mayor, Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad, said the development of green space is one of the main needs of the capital. He said the municipality is determined to develop green space and complete the green movement plan.
