On the occasion of the Eid-al-Fitr (fast-breaking feast), Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on November 21 granted a
request for the pardoning or commuting the sentences of some 1053 prisoners.
Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi, in a letter to the Leader, had made the request for the pardoning or reducing the sentences of the
prisoners, who had been convicted by general, revolutionary or military courts.
The Leader granted the above request based on Article 110 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic.
