Members of the High Council of Cultural Revolution (HCCR) met the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Tuesday, December 28.
Addressing the audience, the Leader called the council a very important center for shaping national culture and stressed that the council is also entrusted with the significant task of protecting national culture and promoting cultural values in society. He stated that culture forms the basis of national identity and gives rise to positive or negative developments in society.
Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the fact that various internal and external factors influence the public culture of any society. He emphasized that the High Council of Cultural Revolution should make macro-policies with the objective of preparing the ground for the promotion of national culture, guiding cultural trend in society and offering solutions for the removal of cultural flaws and shortcomings.
The Leader stressed that the council should make cultural macro-policies based on social and cultural requirements and following careful cultural and scientific studies. He noted that after such policies are made by the council, it is the responsibilities of the three government branches and the relevant institutions and organizations to carry out those policies.
In conclusion, Ayatollah Khamenei expressed his gratitude for the activities and positive measures of the council over the past two decades and called on the councilors to tackle more extensively the basic cultural issues and those which currently exist in society.
At the beginning of the meeting, which had been held on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the council's establishment, the Leader visited an exhibition at which the outcome of some twenty years of the council's activities in cultural and scientific areas had been put on display.
