Thousands of faithful and dedicated people from the cities of Pakdasht and Mahallat called on the Grand Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Saturday, January 29.
The meeting was held on the occasion of Eid-ul-Ghadir, the auspicious feast that marks the appointment of Imam Ali (greetings be upon him) as the successor of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him and his infallible household) on a divine commandment.
Speaking at the meeting, the Leader felicitated the audience and described the auspicious Eid-ul-Ghadir as a great divine feast.
Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the strong will and laudable determination of the Iranian people to safeguard their independence and national dignity. He stated that the U.S. politicians, who are the ugliest manifestation of arrogance, wrongly assume that the Iranian nation would submit to their bullying and intimidation. "However, today our nation is much stronger, much more determined and prepared than it was at time of the Islamic Revolution. Relying on their faith, resolve and unity, and in the light of the congruity between the nation and the officials, the Iranian people would not be daunted by any threats," he remarked.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic noted that one of the main reasons for U.S. hostility toward the Islamic Republic and its accusations against Iran such as human rights violations and supporting terrorism is the Iranian officials' refusal to yield to U.S. hegemony.
"But the officials of the Islamic Republic know that their legitimacy lies in their reliance on the people, and the people, for their part, do not approve of weak and daunted officials. Therefore, the officials, like the people, are determined to resist the bullying and ballyhoo of the enemy with wisdom, bravery and self-reliance," the Leader stated. "Experience has proved that whenever a nation is united and prepared to defend its independence and sovereignty, and whenever the government and the nation share a common resolve, the United States would not be able to do anything," he added.
Hinting at the accusations leveled by the United States against Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the babbling officials of the United States accuse the faithful and honorable Iranian nation of racism, supporting terrorism and violating human rights, but everybody knows that the United States itself deserves such accusations. "Besides, considering the disgrace that the United States has brought on itself with regard to Guantanamo and AbuGhuraib prisons, the U.S. government is not entitled to talk about human rights."
Ayatollah Khamenei referred to U.S. support for the terrorists like the Taleban and pointed out that the United States is even today supporting the Monafeqin, who are the ugliest and most notorious terrorists. "By accusing Iran of supporting terrorism, the United States aims to divert the Iranian people from supporting the oppressed Palestinian nation. But what they expect from the Iranian people is something quite silly."
As regards the recent U.S. threats and allegations against the Islamic Republic, the Leader stressed that the arrogant powers should realize that the Iranian people are determined to follow their path earnestly, and that they will give a proper response to such babbling and prattling with their massive turnout in the February-10 rallies marking the 26th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution and with their participation in the upcoming presidential elections.
Further in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the current negotiations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Europe over Iran's peaceful use of nuclear energy. He pointed out that wisdom, logic, prudence and national interests form the basis of Iran's interactions with other countries in all international arenas, including the negotiations over Iran's use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic is serious in its negotiations with Europe. "But the European countries should also be serious in their talks and show that they really intend to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, so far this has not been the case."
The Leader of the Islamic Republic said that the arrogant powers are displeased with the Iranian nation's scientific progress in the field of nuclear technology.
"The Iranian people trust and support their representatives negotiating with Europe. The other side should realize that through political stratagems or by wasting time, they would not be able to weaken the firm intention of the Iranian nation and officials to advance in the field of nuclear technology. The Iranian people and their officials would not forego nuclear technology because they consider it as part of their national interests," he noted.
Ayatollah Khamenei advised the European countries not to be influenced by the United States and the Zionist regime. He further stated, "Bygone are the days when Britons dominated Iran and the Persian Gulf in the 19th and 20th century. Therefore, the European negotiators should bear in mind that they are dealing with a great, vigilant and cultured nation."
The Leader warned that if the Iranian officials come to the conclusion that there is no seriousness on the part of the European negotiators, the current process of negotiations would change.
