War-Disabled Veterans Have Cordial Meeting with the Leader

A number of war-disabled veterans with a disability rating of 70 percent or more and their families had a cordial meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Wednesday, October 26.

Speaking at the meeting, which took nearly three hours, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that the meeting was indicative of the high regard and respect expressed for the war-disabled veterans and their families in society.

"The meeting highlights the fact that paying tribute to war-disabled veterans and holding them in high regard should always be considered a basic principle of the Islamic Republic of Iran," he noted.

The Leader of the Islamic Republic referred to war-disabled veterans as living martyrs who are still capable of striving and making great efforts for the sake of Islam and in the way of Allah. He stressed that war-disabled veterans will be greatly rewarded and remunerated by Almighty Allah for the hardships and afflictions that they are undergoing and for their remarkable patience and fortitude.

"The wives of our honorable war-disabled veterans, who are sharing in the hardships and sufferings of their husbands, are also greatly rewarded by the Almighty, and I deem it necessary to express my sincere gratitude to them," the Leader told the audience.

Also, addressing the children of war-disabled veterans, the Leader stated, "You should feel proud that you are the children of those individuals who have sacrificed their youth and their health for the sake of some divine and noble objectives."

Further in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that the Iranian people, especially government officials, bear certain responsibilities toward war-disabled veterans.

"The war-disabled veterans, the families of martyrs, those who made great sacrifices for the sake of Islam and the revolution, and the great majority of the Iranian people, unlike those pompous individuals who would not forego their worldly desires, rushed to the battlefield in wartime to confront the enemies and safeguard the honor and dignity of our nation. Therefore, they should always be held in high regard," the Leader remarked.

At the end of the meeting, the war-disabled veterans and their families said their evening and night prayers, which were led by Ayatollah Khamenei. Then, the participants at the meeting broke their fast in the presence of the Leader of the Islamic Republic.
