The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei attended a memorial ceremony in commemoration of the former chairman of the Experts Assembly Ayatollah Mirza Ali Meshkini on Saturday, August 4.
The ceremony, which was held at the Husseiniyeh of Imam Khomeini, was also attended by the heads of the three government branches, the chairman of the Expediency Council, members of the Cabinet, a number of deputies of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and some of the people's representatives in the Experts Assembly.
A number of ulama and scholars and instructors and theology students of the Islamic seminaries, some political and cultural and academic personalities and high-ranking government and military officials as well as a large group of people from different social strata and walks of life also attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Hojjatoleslam Hussein Ansariyan talked about the high status of those possessing knowledge and ulama and scholars in Islam. He also expounded on the significant role played by the five factors of knowledge, piety, action, service and contentment in shaping the personality of human beings.
Referring to the late Ayatollah Meshkini, Hojjatoleslam Ansariyan said that Ayatollah Meshkini was a magnanimous clergyman whose whole lifetime was characterized by the above factors.
"Ayatollah Meshkini succeeded in introducing knowledge and action and piety and contentment into every aspect of his life and managed to render valuable and sincere service to the servants of Allah during his entire lifetime," he told the audience.
Hojjatoleslam Ansariyan also said that the massive participation of the Iranian people from various walks of life in the funeral procession of the deceased and their glorious presence at the funeral service and the memorial ceremony in commemoration of the late Ayatollah Meshkini indicated the high regard in which the pious and dedicated clergymen adhering to the Islamic principles are held by the general public. He added that the noble personality of Ayatollah Meshkini serves as a model to follow.
Furthermore, at the ceremony, the eulogists of the Holy Prophet's household (peace and greetings be upon them) recited some elegies in lamentation over the demise of the dedicated and pious clergyman Ayatollah Mirza Ali Meshkini.
