The Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei attended a mourning ceremony marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali ibn al-Hussein Zayn-al-Abedin (greetings be upon him) on Friday, February 10.
The mourning ceremony, which was the last of several mourning ceremonies held on consecutive nights marking the martyrdom anniversary of the Master of Martyrs Imam Hussein-ibn-Ali (greetings be upon him) and his faithful companions, was also attended by a large gathering of people from various social strata as well as a number government officials.
At the ceremony, the eulogists of the progeny of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his infallible household) expounded on the mournful event of Ashura and recited some elegies in lamentation over the martyrdom of the Master of Martyrs and Imam Ali ibn al-Hussein Zayn-al-Abedin (greetings be upon them).
The participants in the ceremony also prayed to Almighty Allah to hasten the reappearance of His Holiness Imam of the Age (greetings be upon him) and confer success on all Muslims throughout the world.
