A number of exemplary university students and representatives of different politico-cultural student organizations called on the Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei on Tuesday, October 17.
At the meeting, 13 elite students and representatives of student organizations expressed their views on various academic, scientific, social, political and cultural issues.
In an address to the audience, the Leader expressed happiness over his meeting with the young students, whom he described as epitomes of youthful freshness and mental pureness. He stated that a new and lively attitude toward various issues and phenomena, new views and ideas, idealistic expectations and criticism emanating from those expectations are the major characteristics of young students.
Ayatollah Khamenei stated that such features enable the young students to play an effective role in the country's progress and in the accomplishment of the revolutionary objectives. He added that the students should not be content with the status quo, and that they should always demand the materialization of the revolutionary ideals so that the country may advance in the right direction.
The Leader referred to the ability to understand and analyze the important issues of the country and present political analyses of major events as the basic requirement of student circles and organizations. He also described the deepening of the students' religious knowledge as another requirement of academic circles.
"The Islamic Republic of Iran, while paying due attention to the material aspect of life, is also seeking to revive spirituality, which is the lost element in the modern life of mankind, and this is the reason why it is facing opposition and hostility on the part of the world's arrogant and oppressive powers. But despite all this and by divine assistance, it will continue to tread the path to the accomplishment of this noble objective," the Leader told the students.
Further in his statements, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the inclination on the part of the third and the fourth generations after the revolution toward Islamic ideals and their readiness to undertake difficult tasks and important responsibilities as among the signs of the progress of the Islamic system.
"If today also an event like the Iraqi imposed war happens, our young generation is ready to give rise to a glorious epic, as did the Iranian youngsters in the first decade after the revolution," Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out.
Hinting at the fact that the Islamic system is enjoying increasing support from other nations, the Leader of the Islamic Republic described the future of the revolution as quite bright and promising.
"Undoubtedly, the significance of the Islamic Republic of Iran is going to reach a decisive level in the international equations, but the main prerequisite for this desired future is the presence on the scene of a young generation characterized by firm intention, strong motivation, perseverance, adequate knowledge and expertise, deep faith and adherence to Islamic values and principles," the Leader told the audience.
At the end of the meeting, the students said their evening and night prayers, which were led by Ayatollah Khamenei. Then the participants at the meeting broke their fast in the presence of the Leader of the Islamic Republic.
