LEADER MEETS MEMBERS OF EXPERTS ASSEMBLY

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei stressed the solid foundations of the Islamic system in Iran and said, "Thanks to the presence of pious and enthusiastic young generation, a promising and positive future is awaiting the country."

He made the remarks while receiving members of the Experts Assembly who attended its 11th meeting, which wound up in Tehran Monday evening.

Pointing to the novel idea the Islamic system has introduced to the world under the title ‘religious democracy', the Leader said that in the Islamic system, safeguarding the dignity of people, now manifested in national elections, is dependent on religious principles.

Saying that despite all ballyhoos and complicated propaganda campaigns, the idea has received wide welcome in the world, he stressed that the failure of hegemonic powers, headed by the U.S., in standing against the Islamic system during the past 25 years proves the solid foundations of religious democracy in Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei further described western democracy as shaky, saying, Islam introduced 'trust in one's owns self, the nation and the national power' as well as 'not capitulating to the pressure of enemies'.
