Thousands of faithful Iranians and government officials met Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei, on Monday, September 11, on the occasion of the feast of Mab'ath, or the day marking the appointment of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) as divine messenger.
Addressing the gathering, the Leader felicitated the audience on the auspicious occasion and described the formation of Islamic Ummah with its unique features as one of the major results of the divine appointment.
The Leader pointed out that acting upon Islamic teachings, faith, strong resolve and jihad in the way of Allah were the factors that turned the small Muslim community in Medina into a powerful Ummah. He said that in the course of history, whenever Muslim Ummah adhered to such factors, it attained dignity and prosperity, and whenever it deviated from them, it faced failure.
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the establishment of an Islamic system in the heart of the Islamic world and in the sensitive Middle East region has prepared the ground for the revival of Islamic identity and dignity among Muslim nations. But he warned that efforts are beings made by arrogant powers to destroy this center of Islamic identity.
Further in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the dastardly aggression launched by global arrogance against Islam. He said the reason for this aggression is that Islam is the main factor that infuses Muslim Ummah with dignity. He stressed that the Islamic world should try to resist this aggression through unity and solidarity.
The Leader said that, today, the United States, chanting the slogan of democracy and under the pretext of fighting terrorism, has attacked the Islamic world and is shedding the people's blood in Iraq and Afghanistan.
"The logic of the United States is the logic of intimidation, bullying and aggression. Indeed, the logic of arrogant powers has never been based on dialogue or a fair compromise. The United States, which is evil incarnate, would not settle for anything less than absolute domination of the Islamic world and the Middle East," Ayatollah Khamenei warned.
Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran further criticized the Islamic states for their silence about the daily crimes that are being committed by U.S. troops and Zionist forces in the Islamic world under the pretext of fighting terrorism. He called the United States and the Zionist regime the real supporters of terrorism.
"The futile efforts of arrogant powers and the Zionist regime to silence the Palestinian people over the past 60 years and the recent setbacks suffered by the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan indicate that the Muslim Ummah is capable of standing up to arrogance and atheism," the Leader stated.
