The Grand Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei met the residents of the provincial city of Rafsanjan on the eighth day of his tour of Kerman Province on Sunday, May 8.
Speaking to an ardent and cheerful crowd of local residents, the Leader stated that government officials should act in such a way as to make the Iranian people feel the presence of justice, which was the main goal of the Islamic Revolution, in society and in the different affairs handled by the government.
Ayatollah Khamenei further referred to the selfless efforts made by the late leader and architect of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini, and to the perseverance and self-sacrifice of the Iranian nation for the establishment of an Islamic system based on justice in Iran.
"Under an Islamic system, people should enjoy a decent livelihood, peace of mind and freedom of expression and achieve moral and spiritual progress by benefiting from justice," he told the gathering.
The Leader of the Islamic Republic further stated, "Islam will under no circumstances forbear from the administration of justice, and government officials should observe justice in dealing with legal affairs, the allocation of national resources as well as social and individual affairs, so that the honorable Iranian people may benefit from welfare, scientific progress and full-scale development accompanied by justice and spirituality in their lives."
Ayatollah Khamenei noted that the most important reason for the charm and attractiveness of the Islamic system in the eyes of other Muslim nations and freedom-lovers in the world is the pursuit of justice by the Islamic system. He emphasized that it is the duty of all government officials to make every effort to promote and administer justice in society.
Elsewhere in his statements, the Leader stressed that among the main prerequisites to taking up government positions are holding a firm belief in justice and making incessant efforts to fill the gap between the poor and the rich in society.
Hinting at the significance of the people's active participation in the upcoming presidential elections, the Leader stated, "The election of the most efficient and qualified presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections will prepare the groundwork for the formation of a competent and powerful government capable of solving the existing problems facing the public and expediting the process of development combined with justice, enabling the Islamic Republic to advance on the path toward achieving the first rank in the region, as foreseen in the country's 20-Year Perspective Document."
Further in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei referred to the raising of the banner of justice by the Islamic system as the main cause of the arrogant powers' enmity toward the Iranian nation.
"The world's oppressive powers are trying to dominate the religion, culture and worldly affairs of the Iranian nation by using their power and wealth and through hypocritical means. But the vigilant Iranian people are getting stronger day by day through their unity and solidarity, and they will never submit to bullying and intimidation," he told the audience.
In conclusion, the Leader of the Islamic Republic expressed his appreciation for the warm and enthusiastic welcome accorded to him by the residents of Rafsanjan and noted that the city's devoted residents have always been known for their deep faith and dedication.
Later, Ayatollah Khamenei made a visit to the Martyrs Cemetery and paid tribute to the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense.
