Supreme Leader agreed to pardon, commute penalty for eligible convicts

The Leader of the Revolution agreed to pardon or reduce the sentences of a number of convicts.

On the occasion of the auspicious ‘Eid al-Fitr, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution—Ayatollah Khamenei—agreed with the request to pardon, reduce or change the penalty of 691 eligible convicts at the Public and Revolutionary Courts, the Judicial Organization of Armed Forces, and the State Discretionary Punishment Organization.

In a letter to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, Hujjat al-Islam Raisi, head of the Judiciary, had requested the Supreme Leader to agree with the pardoning, reducing or commuting of the sentences of 691 convicts who were found eligible by the Central Office of Pardon. This request was approved by Ayatollah Khamenei according to Article 11 of the Constitution's Act 110.
