Imam Khamenei

The zionist regime is illegitimate and will not survive

The following is the full text of a speech delivered on June 15, 2018, by Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, in a meeting with government officials and the ambassadors of Islamic countries in the Islamic Republic of Iran. The meeting was held on the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr.

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful,

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, and peace and greetings be upon our Master Muhammad and upon his pure household, especially the one remaining with Allah on earth.

I would like to congratulate you, honorable and esteemed participants, and the ambassadors of Islamic countries present at the meeting, all the great and pious people of Iran, and the entire Islamic Ummah, on the great and auspicious Eid ul-Fitr. I ask Allah the Exalted to make this Eid an auspicious occasion, in the real sense of the word, for the Islamic Ummah.

As has been mentioned, in the qhonut part of Eid ul-Fitr prayers, Eid ul-Fitr is "a source of dignity, greatness, and abundance for Muhammad (God's greetings be upon him and his household),” [al-Iqbal, Vol. 1, page 289]. It is a source of dignity and respect for the holy existence of the Honorable Prophet (PBUH). In other words, it is a source of dignity for Islam and the Islamic community. It seems that one of the most important factors and elements, which can be a source of dignity and honor for the Holy Prophet of Islam, for Muslims, and for the Islamic Ummah is the unity of the Islamic Ummah and the elimination of discord.

Dear brothers, dear sisters, today the policies of the Arrogant Front are creating tension and discord among Muslim nations and even among the people of these nations. Today, this is the doing of the enemies' policy. It is a plan that plotters and schemers, of the criminal US and the Zionist regimes, devised for our country because it is one of the most important Islamic regions.

You can see the signs, presently: the tragic events in Yemen, the events in Syria, and the events which took place in Iraq and other Islamic countries. The solution begins when Muslim nations discover the main reason for this all this turmoil. The main reason stems from the enmity of the front of arrogance against the Islamic community and Ummah: this is at the core of the issue. Muslims must take a stand against the policies of the Arrogant Front. Standing up to the West is the responsibility of government members, political officials, and the religious, cultural personalities throughout the Islamic World. Another severe problem the Zionist regime, which has been planted in the heart of the Islamic World for the sake of creating discord, causing sedition, and posing threats.

The Zionist regime will not survive. All historical experiences, certainly, dictate and convey this message. The Zionist regime has fundamental problems. Today, the Americans, the elements in the Zionist regime, itself, and some weak-willed governments, which are obedient to the US, think that by establishing overt or covert diplomacy with the Zionist regime, they can solve some problems. --This is not the case. The problems caused by the Zionist regime will not be solved by the existence or non-existence of a diplomatic relationship with other governments. It is not the case that problems initiated by the Zionist regime will be resolved should two, three governments – more or less – establish relations with it or break the taboo of establishing relations with "Israel" and join hands with it. The Zionist regime's biggest problem stems from its lack of legitimacy: the Zionist regime is illegitimate; the formation of this regime is based on a lie.

Zionists expelled a people from their country by force, via massacres and threats, and with the help of armed forces: they did this to a historical nation. The Palestinian nation is not an illegitimate or newly-emerged nation: the same is true of the country of Palestine. Are they able to eliminate Palestine's map from the historical-geographical memory of the world? Is this possible? Even if they force several weak-willed countries in the Middle-Eastern region into establishing diplomatic relations with the Zionist regime, this will not solve their problem: the source of their problems stems from lack of legitimacy.

The Zionist regime's foundations in the region are shaky, unstable, and faulty: this is not something wherein the key to solving matters are in the hands of other government officials. The people's emotions in some of the countries, which happen to have a long history of friendly relations with the Zionist regime – I will not mention which countries, are getting much tenser towards the Zionist regime than other countries. The overall concern rest with several nations.

The Zionist regime's lack of legitimacy has been carved into the hearts of the Islamic Ummah and this is not erasable. They will not be able to solve this problem with the efforts of the White House and by transferring the US embassy to Quds and other such actions. This problem is unsolvable. And without doubt, by Allah's favor and with the determination of Muslim nations, this regime – which has been created on the basis of falsehood – will be completely destroyed.

Like all free countries in the world, the people of Palestine – real Palestinians – should be asked for their opinions: this includes Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews. Those who are Palestinian – not those who have entered Palestine from other places – should be asked to express their opinions. The votes of those who are Palestinian should become a point of reference. They should be asked to give their opinions. It is they who should determine the government of the country of Palestine. Then, that government will make a decision on those who have entered the region unlawfully – the Zionists, their leaders, and the rest.

There is no other way to heal Palestine, and this also provokes the annihilation of the evil and illegitimate Zionist regime which, unfortunately, has power today. By Allah's favor and grace, this [end of the Zionists regime] will definitely happen in the not-too-distant future – one cannot set a date for this time to come, it will happen. And when it happens, Muslim nations will manage to achieve unity in the region, God willing.

The source of discord in the region is due to the existence of this [Zionist] enemy. The existence of a mutual enemy often leads to unity, but the opposite has been experienced here: the enemy has become a source of discord and indifference. The enemy has become a source for creating cells of treachery among some officials in Islamic countries. When the disunity is crushed, countries will be able to get close to one another, and then, they can preserve their unity and solidarity. Islamic dignity lies in the unity of the Islamic Ummah. By Allah's favor, the Islamic Ummah should achieve the peak of transcendence in the shade of unity, and it will definitely achieve it.

I hope that Allah the Exalted will ordain good upon the Islamic Ummah during this Eid ul-Fitr and in all blessed and auspicious occasions. I hope that He will bestow, on all the masses of people in the Islamic Ummah and all Muslims, the blessing to seriously move on a righteous path.

Greetings upon you and Allah's mercy and blessings
